Who We Are

Kanarie, Inc. ("Kanarie," "we," "us," or "our") is a Delaware corporation headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon. We operate a field-testing service (the "Service") that integrates with user devices to turn athlete activity data and tester feedback into structured product insights for brands.

This Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect and how we process it in connection with the Service, including our text message (SMS) program.

Scope

This Policy applies to every individual who participates in a Kanarie field test (each, a "Participant"), whether a Kanarie staff member testing internally on a personal device or an external tester who enrolls in a field test program. It also applies to anyone who enrolls in the Kanarie text message program described in the Text Message (SMS) Program section below.

Kanarie field tests are currently running at limited scale as we onboard our first brand partners. The practices described in this Policy govern every Participant regardless of that scale, and we follow them today.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information from Participants:

Contact Information

Name, email address, and — if you choose to enroll in our text message program — your mobile phone number and your record of consent.

Activity and Device Data

Data generated by your fitness device or app, such as steps, distance, speed, elevation, and GPS/location data associated with recorded activities.

Health and Fitness Metrics

Metrics recorded by your device, such as heart rate and sleep data.

Device Identifiers

Identifiers for the devices and applications you connect to the Service.

Tester Feedback

Survey responses, ratings, and written feedback you submit about products you are testing.

How We Use Information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Operate, develop, test, and improve the Service;
  • Match Participants to field tests and deliver test instructions and materials;
  • Generate product performance insights for the brand sponsoring a given field test;
  • Send you the transactional and program messages described in the Text Message (SMS) Program section; and
  • Respond to your questions and provide support.

Insights we provide to brand partners are derived from tester data. We do not provide brand partners with your mobile phone number or your text messaging consent record.

Text Message (SMS) Program

Kanarie operates a text message program that sends field-testing notifications to Participants who opt in. Participation is entirely voluntary and is not a condition of any purchase or of participating in a field test.

Consent

We send text messages only to Participants who have provided express written consent by opting in — for example, by submitting a Kanarie enrollment form that includes the messaging disclosures, or by texting a keyword to our number. We retain a record of that consent.

Message Content and Frequency

Messages relate to your field-testing activity: test start and end reminders, requests to complete feedback surveys, shipment and equipment notices, and similar program messages. Message frequency varies.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Kanarie does not charge for these messages; your mobile carrier's standard rates apply.

Opting Out

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent. You may rejoin at any time by replying START or by re-enrolling.

How We Handle Mobile Information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories described in this Policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We share your mobile phone number only with the licensed messaging service providers that transmit messages on our behalf, and only for the purpose of delivering the messages you have asked to receive. Those providers are contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers. Vendors that host our systems, deliver our messages, and provide support tooling, acting on our instructions and bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Brand partners. Aggregated and individual field-test findings, excluding your mobile phone number and text messaging consent record.
  • Legal and safety. Where required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Kanarie or others.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. Text messaging opt-in and consent records are retained for as long as you remain enrolled and for a reasonable period afterward to demonstrate compliance.

Your Choices

You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. You may also disconnect a linked device or app at any time, or contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. We will respond to such requests as required by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service develops. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes affecting the text message program will be communicated to enrolled Participants.
